Weekly Morning, Evening, and Saturday classes

Hand build it.
Hand building invovles creating pots and sculptures without the use of a wheel, using your hands and simple tools.
The most common techniques are pinch pottery, coiling, and slab building.
We offer instruction and guidance in handbuilding in our weekly classes, allowing you to develop your own projects after mastery of the basic techniques.
-
Wheel throw it.
This is where all the magic happens - at our Potter’s Wheel, featuring our Master Potter, Edson.
There’s something so relaxing about getting your hands involved and full of clay.
Not only is Edson a highly skilled potter who can turn anything on a wheel. He is also the most patient, skilled teacher who has the ability to turn beginners into competent throwers in weeks.
-
Decorate it.
Whether you prefer simple or complex designs, there are endless ways to decorate your pottery and make each piece truly unique.
Techniques from stamping to stencilling and sgraffito are all options to make your pots shine.
You are able to underglaze, use slip, brush or dip to glaze your items and get a variety of finishes on your projects.

What happens if I can’t attend a class?
Classes are not charged at a pro-rata rate, and missed classes can be made up at your convenience but cannot be offset against the current or following month’s fees. Please contact us to arrange for a time slot for your makeup class.
What type of clay do you use?
Our studio uses light and terra cotta earthenware clay (low-fire).
Unfortunately, we don’t accommodate stoneware or porcelain.
What is included in the classes?
Your class fees include tuition, clay, the use of the equipment and tools, bisque, and glaze firing of items.
What equipment is available in the studio?
We have six wheels, a slab roller, pugged clay, various drape molds, and various tools to assist you in completing your projects.
What does it cost?
All Things Clay students are charged R2,350 monthly for morning or evening classes. These fees include all materials - clay, glaze, and firings.
Bi-monthly payments (2 classes per month) at R1,300 per month.
Fees are payable via EFT, Cash, or Credit Card.
Can I do a once-off class or do a Date Night?
It is recommended that you attend multiple classes as pottery involves a process of creating, bisque firing, decoration, and finishing. Therefore, completing a pottery project after just one class is impossible.
We have a two-session requirement if you want to do a once-off class or a Date Night. The cost of this option is R1,300 per person. That is for the first lesson to create work and for the second session to decorate what you have made.
What happens when I can’t attend classes anymore?
One month’s notice is required if you cannot continue attending classes.
How long will it take before I can take home my work?
The time it takes to receive your completed work depends on several factors, including the drying time, bisque firing, glazing, and glaze firing. Generally, each of these processes takes around a week to complete.
Overall, you should expect to wait around 3-4 weeks to receive your completed work, depending on the speed of working, the size and complexity of the piece, as well as the current workload of the studio. If you have any questions or concerns about the timing of your order, please don't hesitate to contact us.
